As part of our commitment to support learning opportunities for all Third Schools students, various Educational Technologies (EdTech) are used to deliver and enhance the instructional process. Increasingly, EdTech is in the form of software and applications, frequently through the internet. These platforms are developed and maintained by third-party vendors external to Third Schools. These learning tools are carefully selected to support and enhance learning for our students and then integrated into our instructional practices. Prior to introducing a new EdTech platform, Third Schools Educational Lead will evaluate the product for suitability for student use.

During the Third Schools application process, parents review and agree to the terms and conditions of our Enrolment Agreements. These agreements including a clause authorizing Third Schools to provide students with access to EdTech platforms for required instructional programming.

For example, all Third Schools students are assigned a Google Workspace for Education account providing them access to the apps on this platform. While the apps used vary depending on the student’s specific Third Schools program, the digital learning tools included in Google Workspace for Education are an important component of the instructional delivery and assessment process.

Specific EdTech platforms may collect and utilize personal information including, but not limited, to the student’s user name, password, apps used, IP address, browser type, search terms, app activity, location, etc. As these technologies are provided and maintained by third party vendors and providers external to Third Schools, we have no control as to how this information may be utilized by the EdTech vendor. The responsibility to safeguard this information rests with the EdTech vendor and not with Third Schools.
